Bristol is the top UK city for quality of life according to the 2009 Sustainable Cities Index published by Forum for the Future.

Bristol's Grade II listed music hall, Colston Hall has been redeveloped into one of the city's top concert venues with a £20m Phase 1 funding package - £13m funding from Bristol City Council and £7m from the Arts Council England. Bristol's old Industrial Museum on the Harbourside is also being transformed into a £26.5m new museum for Bristol..

Bristol also hosts a number of notable sporting events, locations and clubs including: the Bristol Half Marathon, Bristol Rovers FC, Bristol City FC, Bristol Rugby, Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, 2 circus schools, a climbing centre and many more...

Bristol was the only city in the UK to be short-listed for the European Green Capital Award.

The city's hugely popular St Nicholas Market has been crowned the UK's greenest market by the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF). This includes the award winning Bristol Farmers Market as well as the Slow Food Market.

Bristol harbourside was the venue for the Soil Association's 2009 Organic Food Festival, which kicked-off its Organic Fortnight. This Festival is Europe's largest celebration of all things organic.

A beautiful natural environment lies within easy reach of the city centre including the Cotswolds, the Forest of Dean, Cheddar Gorge, the Mendip hills and the seaside attractions of Weston, Clevedon and the north Devon coastline. Along with Exmoor, Dartmoor and Wales on our doorstep there's an abundance of places to explore and outdoor activities to enjoy.
